“Snow disrupts the UK,” screams the headline on the BBC news website.
Not the case at Double First, where it’s completely business as usual in the line of supporting schools with their school management software.
Staff at Double First have been using their ‘Connect’ IP telephony system from its IT and telecoms partner, du Pré, for nearly two years which allows staff to work from home completely transparently.
In addition to all the features and benefits it brings during normal weather conditions, it’s times like this when the system really shows off its capabilities and highlights Double First as a company shining above all others.

In a response to the increase in demand for its Engage School Management Software, the team at Double First is pleased to have made some very positive internal changes.
Historically, the Support Team and Training personnel were combined to ensure that schools always had the support they needed.
But the recent expansion in the Support Team has enabled a new Training Department to be created specifically to ensure that users of Double First’s software are fully au fait with the areas they need to be.
The brand new department is dedicated full-time to providing the highest levels of training to schools throughout the UK and overseas.

Whilst planning the update of its fleet, Double First continues to follow its policy of becoming measurably greener and greener.
Replacement vehicles has to be able to demonstrate a much lesser CO2 emission, significantly more miles per gallon, and less servicing costs.
"The first point to make," said Piers du Pré, Group Chairman, "is that we are staying with Volvos, but models with the new 1.6 DRIVe engine which is able to return an average in excess of 60mpg.
"The second point is that we changed suppliers to Motorworld in Wantage simply because Richard Harbud of Motorworld made the most impressive and believable pitch which could not be refused."
The first cars were delivered in November and Motorworld has been true to their word. Further, the service administration overhead has been reduced, as has vehicle downtime.

Double First Ltd has always sought to provide confidence in testing times, but never any more so than in today’s climate where some fee-paying schools are finding themselves in uncertain economic territories.
Many schools are still unsure exactly how many pupils will be joining in the next academic year, and have far less of an idea about the following year. In other schools, Bursars are finding they are not confident that enquiries are being responded to properly, making for missed opportunities.
Couple this with school Bursars and Registrars not having all the data they need for making decisions for growth and a lack of the ability to produce meaningful reports on future finances, it’s hardly surprising to see a lack of confidence today.
